A visual history, not a quality score. Captures use different cameras; runs differ in time, settings and environment. Compare the worlds, rendering and sound, then play them to judge the feel. Experiment dates are file-based estimates; announcement dates link to the original issue’s sources.

Experiment dates are estimates from surviving files. Model dates mark first public announcements, not necessarily availability in every app. Numbers keep the original issue order.

Under the hood

The village is generated. The foundations differ.

Procedural assets do not necessarily mean a from-scratch renderer. Most builds use Three.js; one writes its own WebGL pipeline. The original implementations and their dependencies remain intact.

Process log

Sometimes the useful work is noticing what looks wrong.

Two roughly 50-minute runs. Two different uses of time.

Sonnet 5 Max caught and corrected backwards-facing actors during its self-checking pass. Opus 5 High used its run for a broader village simulation: five cameras, lighting states, particles and layered sound.

The reported settings were High where available, Sonnet on Max and Opus on High. The local Qwen3.8-27B run used OpenCode and LM Studio on one RTX 4090. The original issue reports no follow-up prompts—not identical elapsed time or identical execution environments.

Sonnet inspecting the chase camera and noting that the weasel orientation looked wrong.

The original prompt, typo included
“Can you create a fun a really cool looking web page, showing a 3d world, a small simulation, of a village with trees and fields around it, nice lighting, all webgl, stylized looks, nice lighting and a cool chiptune music and then a cartoony ice van driving around there, followed by a crazy weazel.”

No design reference was supplied. The typo stayed; the weasels multiplied.
